Morning fun with Bhuvan and friends...

Children have neither past nor future; they rejoice in the present.

It was a fabulous gardening session I had, early this morning with Bhuvan, Gautam and Chinmay ! And how could I forget Disco. He gave us good company too...

It's Dasara vacation and the kids are free in the mornings. I had called them at 6.30 and Gautam was so eager, he landed up at 6.10 itself ! We used our half-done leaf compost as a base for the pots and added the potting mix over that. We transplanted cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli seedlings and sowed some bush beans and gulugayi/pointed gourd seeds. And now they are looking forward to tomorrow morning for another session...

We plan to rope in more kids, get back on our early morning "Nature walks" and collect more dry leaves this season. We hope to increase the amount of our leaf compost this time. And then we also have the "Copper-trees-of-Spring" to follow soon...

Adding the half-done leaf compost at the base...

Topping it with my very simple potting mix of equal parts of soil and vermicompost (Got from Mum's litt;e vermicomposting factory) and some
neem cake powder.

Taking a break to goof around. Here we have Bhuvan trying to imitate Disco...  That's the difference between working with children and adults...

And the MAJJA continues...

This morning it was sowing "Mixed-Greens" all the way.

The compost got over, or we would have filled up more pots and sowed more seeds... I'll get more compost from Mum's place today and we can keep the rest of the potting and sowing for tomorrow morning.

And it was another fun-filled morning of sowing and more sowing... grin emoticon
Sowed more bereke soppu/mixed greens, peas, bush beans, bhendi and finally got to sow some of the seeds that were so generously gifted to me by Vani and her team, when they visited Dharwad. Thanks a tonne Hariram, Jani, Claire, Ramya H, Jyotika, Ramesh Damodaran and Uma.

You guys are amazing !!
